Today, July 15, 2014, I decided to go take a trip to the town of Bray in County Wicklow, Ireland as I have heard it is an amazing town to visit on the coast. I just bought a new Go Pro a few days ago so I thought this would be a great opportunity to test it out. While on the train coming up the coast I noticed this huge cloud of smoke over the ocean by the shore in Bray. When I got to Bray it turns out there was a huge fire just outside of Bray that was causing the whole area to be engulfed in smoke. My cousin even called me to see if I was alright as some of the smoke was going as far as Dalkey in County Dublin. So with my Go Pro in hand and time lapse settings good to go I decide to set up my rig at one of the points overlooking Bray. When I first started taking the video the smoke was fairly minimal but as the time went one it started to get thicker and quite literally started to blanket Bray. I sat there for 45 minutes taking this time lapse video that you can watch above and had to leave because as you can see the smoke started to get dangerously close to smoking me out. Not only that the winds were changing and the smoke was starting to come right at me so I decided to get myself out of there. I hope that the people of Bray and surrounding areas are safe and that the fire or smoke does not cause any serious damage. My thoughts and prays are with anyone who is affected by this today.
