Another dream comes true by visiting the Blue Lagoon hot springs Iceland!
From a very young age I always had a fascination with Iceland and the beauty this country had to offer. I remember watching travel programs on TLC and The Discovery Channel thinking to myself how awesome it would be to visit this majestic country. The one thing that always got me the most excited was how amazing the geothermal hot springs looked and how blue the water was. From the very first time I saw them from the comfort of my living room I knew that I had to find a way to get my body into these hot springs.

This photo was actually taken by the good people at The Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa. They actually go around taking one of everyone for free.
Fast forward to 2014 and finally an opportunity presents itself to go see all that Iceland has to offer. The very first thing I did was plan how I was going to get to the Blue Lagoon and how long I was going to stay there. Honestly I could have lived there as there was this feeling that came over me in that water made me extremely at peace with myself. Getting to the Blue Lagoon from Reykjavik is not all that hard and there are many options available to you. One of the easiest ways is to book a tour that includes a trip to the Blue Lagoon as one of its stops. I personally went with the The Blue Lagoon Day Tour with Reykjavik Excursions. The total price was 9.800 ISK ($92 CAD, 63 EUR, 86 US) and it included round trip transportation plus admissions. Make sure when booking your tour that it includes the admission because a lot of tours only cover the transportation.

One of the very few times I was actually out of the water.
As for what to expect when at the The Blue Lagoon, you will want to make sure you bring your own towel and bring some extra cash if you want to buy a drink or get some food. There are some upgrades you can do once you get there that include various perks like a meal, drinks and spa treatments. As for when in the water it can get very hot, in fact the water temperature varied as you make your way around the pool. There was one area that was so hot I am pretty sure if I stayed in there long enough I would have started to cook myself. Also one thing to be very aware of is that you cannot see the bottom and depths can change very suddenly. I was actually walking across the main area with my camera and almost fell completely in the water which would have destroyed my camera. Luckily I used my ninja like reflexes and kept my arm out of the water holding my camera. Another thing that I absolutely enjoyed was the steam room. The steam was all natural and the feeling it left you with was incredible. Right after the steam room you can also go under this massage waterfall that is fed with the geothermal hot springs. It felt absolutely incredible and I would recommend to anyone. The only thing is that it tends to be really crowded and I had to wait my turn patiently to get under the waterfall.

Getting my water massage on.
After my visit to the hot springs I wanted to go back every single day but because I was only there for a small amount of time was only able to visit this once. Actually one the tours includes your transportation to the Lagoon then to the airport for your flight home. What better way then to relax yourself before a flight then spending a few hours in the relaxing waters of The Blue Lagoon Geothermal Spa in Iceland.
Hope you enjoyed this post and please be sure that if you are in Iceland that you go to theBlue Lagoon Geothermal Spa and experience the relaxing atmosphere that this natural hot spring has to offer.
