I don’t know about you, but I love sport! There are some famous cities all around the world that have enjoyed incredible sporting success over the years. It’s foolish to think that you’ll be able to get to all of them if you’re on a budget, but there are a select few that you should definitely try and visit!
London
We almost picked Manchester for the UK’s representative due to the incredible soccer presence there. However, we’re picking the capital city of England due to its sheer amount of sports teams. In soccer alone, there is a vast number that plays in the Premier League, including Chelsea and Arsenal. The world-famous Wimbledon tennis tournament is also located here. Also, the Olympics were last held here at the sparkling Olympic Stadium, which is definitely worth a visit.
Barcelona
For years, the big rivalry in Spain has been between Barcelona and Real Madrid’s soccer teams. They are both incredibly successful, with Barcelona sporting such famous stars as Lionel Messi. In 1992, Barcelona hosted the Olympic Games, which was a successful venture for the city. Spain is a gorgeous place to visit anyway, but if you can find your way to a Barcelona game, you’re guaranteed to enjoy yourself. You can always find tickets online at fcbarcelona.com/info-tickets.
Boston
We’re picking Boston as the USA’s representative in this list, thanks to the rich and successful history the city has enjoyed. Of course, the Boston Red Sox are an incredibly famous baseball team. The Celtics and the Bruins are also very successful in their respective sports. There are many more places you should visit in the USA, however. Hire a charter bus from GOGOCharters.com, to help get around different areas of the country. There are some amazing sports arenas that you must see!
Tokyo
Japan’s capital is notorious for its love of baseball. There are five clubs in the area, and many famous players have gone on to play in the MLB. Amazingly, Tokyo has held the Olympic Games three times already. Even more stunning is the fact that it’s scheduled to hold them once again in 2020. Baseball is the biggest attraction here, but there’s a lot more to discover if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.
Melbourne
You might be somewhat surprised to hear that Melbourne is a bigger attraction than Sydney for sports lovers. However, it is a massive hotbed for sporting events. The MCG is the grandest test cricket stadium in the world. The National Aquatic Centre is a paradise for anyone who loves water-based sports. There’s also the small matter of the Australian Open tennis tournament which is held here. That’s just the tip of the iceberg for Melbourne, which is brimming with exciting sports events.
It should come as no surprise that there are more fantastic cities to visit if you love sport. You’ll also find that each country has a different way of doing things. The atmospheres are so fantastically varied; it’s such a magnificent experience every time. If you’re going to visit a sport-mad city, make sure you take in at least one event. It’s so worth it!
